Every House, Senate and governor's race on tonight's ballot. Each section opens with the balance of power: Democratic seats in blue, races still to be called in gray, Republican seats in red. Results from the Associated Press through NBC News.
Where the numbers come from. The Associated Press, through NBC News's results pages. "Called" means AP has declared a winner.
Counted. The share of the expected vote counted so far. Early and mail votes are usually counted first and lean Democratic in most states; Election Day votes lean Republican, so early leads can shrink.
FLIPPED marks a called race won by a different party than the one holding the seat, as NBC News marks it. Would flip marks an uncalled race where the leader belongs to a different party than the incumbent, or, with no incumbent running, than the 2024 House winner of that district. New lines marks House districts redrawn since 2024 with no incumbent running, where there is no fair "holder" to compare with.
The comparison bars. Every bar is the Democratic share minus the Republican share of all votes cast. Tonight's numbers and the 2024 presidential results by state, 2024 House results and New Hampshire's and Vermont's 2024 governor's races come from the Associated Press through NBC News ("AP" in the footnotes). The 2024 presidential results by House district are The Downballot's calculations, on the lines used tonight ("Downballot"); a district counts as having the same lines as in 2024 when The Downballot's 2024-lines and 2026-lines figures for it match vote for vote. The 2020 and 2022 Senate and the 2022 governor's results come from the vote tables on each race's Wikipedia page, checked against Wikipedia's national summary tables ("Wikipedia").
